Scenic Tours are social events giving the classic car owner, family members and friends an opportunity to use their pride and joy with no ‘competitive’ element. Mixing with other car ‘nuts’, Scenic Tours provide excellent opportunities to enjoy driving classic cars whilst visiting some super locations along the way.
Diagrammatic (Tulip) or descriptive junction instructions are supplied in the roadbook, eliminating the need to read a map. However, some participants prefer to follow the route using the local Ordnance Suvery maps to see where they are going and where they’ve come from.
Timing on Scenic Tours is only used to spread the cars out on the road to avoid convoys and bunching. There’s the opportunity too to stop and take pictures at beauty spots. The emphasis on these events is relaxed, social fun in the company of like minded people in picturesque areas of the country, exploring the quieter lanes and byways.
To enter a Scenic Tour, you don’t need a competition licence, you don’t need to be a member of any motor club and you don’t need special insurance. The car only needs to be legally safe with an MOT where appropriate have a current tax disc and insurance to be driven on the public road.
The event is open to road cars over 25 years old. Interesting later cars are accepted at the organisers’ discretion.
